Welcome to the Darracq Lab!
The research in my lab centers around exploring wildlife-human connections. Specifically, we examine how wildlife respond to human-driven change, including management and restoration efforts (e.g., forest management, urban greening, and prescribed fire) and anthropogenic challenges (e.g., urbanization, agriculture, and invasive species). We also investigate how biodiversity influences human health, including the role of urban green spaces in supporting both wildlife communities and human wellbeing. We focus on understanding these dynamics at the individual, population, and community level, with the goal of improving the lives of wildlife, humans, and the ecosystems we depend on. "Our ability to perceive quality in nature begins, as in art, with the pretty. It expands through successive stages of the beautiful to values as yet uncaptured by language."
